About the Author

Author Bio:

I am a transplanted Redneck Chick from the Deep South. I spent a good portion of my childhood in the piney woods of Florida, fishing, hunting, swimming in the cool, blue-green springs (yes with alligators) and roaming barefoot beneath the oak jacks and pines. I also enjoyed working the fishing boats with my family. Now I am a farm wife and mother living far from those whispering pines. But I recall my childhood in the Florida backwoods with fondness.

I am a Sunday school teacher. I teach because it is a blessing to see the light of understanding sparkle within the eyes of the children. I am also a church musician. And I sing gospel songs that glorify my Lord Jesus Christ.

I love to garden and landscape our large yard. We began with nothing. We pioneered our home (which we built ourselves) from a muddy soybean field over a period of fourteen years. I thank God for giving us the ability and strength to do this. It has not been an easy task, but God walks with us through each step of the way. You can see more about our home at my

New Moon Cottage and Gardens blog.

Why do Christians write fiction books?

I cannot speak for all authors, but I write Historical Romance because it is my favorite genre to read. As a Christian I sometimes find it difficult to locate enough Inspirational Historical Romance centered around the years of 1800-1820 to satisfy my reading bug.  Therefore, I thought it only fitting to write about it.

I view my writing as a ministry more than a career. Yes, my stories will entertain the reader. They are by no means insipid and preachy. Yet if some part of my stories help to heal a lonely or discouraged heart, then I have done that which God has called me to do.

I pray my work speaks to the soul of the reader and helps to change their life for the better. My writing is a mere part of God's great plan. I am thankful God has gifted me with this talent. I pray I use it to his glory, not my own.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

The Motivation Behind my
Called to His Purpose Series

In the fall of 2007 I slipped on ice and fell off my porch. The porch is several feet off of the ground. My body slammed into every one of the five steps, which are attached to the porch, as I went down. The subsequent injuries I suffered put me out of commission for nearly four months. One of the doctors that saw me after the accident said, "You look like you've been in a car wreck!"

I was at my wits end as I lay around with cracked ribs and an injured jaw, face, neck, shoulder and arm. I had often written in the past for pleasure, because I love to write. But I had always been too busy to sit down and complete an entire book.

The cracked ribs forced me to sit down! The fall was a defining moment in my life. I began writing with the notion of completing a manuscript and seeing it published.

One night I was reading in Romans and the 28th verse of chapter 8 became more real to me than ever before. I realized that the book I began should be the first in a series of five. And the series would become 'Called to His Purpose'.

God wrought good in my life not because of that fall but in spite of it.

And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

Note: In April , 2009 it was discovered that the accident not only injured the ligaments/muscles in my neck, but that it caused an injury at the C5-C6 area. I have a bulging disk there with a great deal of pain. Physical therapy did not resolve the issues with my neck. I was referred to a pain management center.

So you see, dear reader, this series is not one in which I cannot relate. I hold on to Romans 8:28 with all my heart.

A Word of Encouragement

I want to encourage those who feel hopeless and dejected. Even in the midst of your tears all things are possible with God. I am amazed at the turn my life has taken since the accident. I would not have thought that I would have one book nearly published and another almost complete. Indeed, do not allow the bad to blind you to the good that God can manage in spite of a bad or discouraging situation in your life.

Blessings,

Testimonies of God’s Goodness

My family

God is an awesome God. So how is his awesomeness shown in our everyday lives? For my family, God shows his awesomeness in our everyday lives, not with signs and wonders such as parting the seas or healing blinded eyes (although I know God is capable of doing these things), but he shows us everyday his awesome power by enabling us to rise above the daily struggles and by giving us the strength necessary to complete the building process of New Moon Cottage.

My youngest daughter suffered a devastating birth injury. Her arm was paralyzed during the first three months of her life. God healed her of the paralysis, yet she still suffers the painful and frustrating effects of the injury. But in all this, God has been with us. We have tasted His goodness. We trust him to continue to move in her life regardless as to this situation.

If you have a testimony, email me. I’d love to hear it. And perhaps, I’ll post it in my E-newsletter.
