I’m not going to try and impress you with a long list of degrees. Why? Because I have none. I’m not college educated. Shocking, I know!
Then, who am I?
I’m a third generation fisherman—or in my case woman—from a proud family of Gulf Coast, Florida fishermen. I enjoyed many good days in the piney woods of Florida; fishing, hunting, swimming in the cool, blue-green springs and roaming barefoot beneath the oak jacks and pines. I also spent time working the fishing boats with family. In short, I worked hard, and I played hard, loving every moment of my life.
Now I’m a farm wife and mother living far from those whispering pines. But I recall my childhood in the Florida backwoods and along the beautiful Gulf Coast with fondness.
I spend my day-to-day life in devotion to my family, which consists of my husband, two beautiful daughters, a barmy bunch of animals, and a happy mocking bird. I teach Sunday school, because it blesses me to see the light of understanding sparkle within the eyes of the children. I also enjoy working as a church musician. And I sing gospel songs that glorify my Lord Jesus Christ.
I love to garden and landscape our large yard. We began with nothing. We pioneered our home (which we built ourselves) from a muddy soybean field over a period of 14 years. I thank God for granting us the ability and strength to complete this task. God walks with us through each step of life! You can see more about our homebuilding adventures at my
New Moon Cottage and Gardens blog.
My Writing
I do not seek a career in writing, although I write every free moment I find. I view my writing as a ministry more than a career. I trust God to lead me along the path of authorship.
Do not misunderstand. As any writer, I hope one day to see my works published through more prestigious, traditional publishing houses. But if God wills for me to continue with small press publishing, then I do so with a glad heart. After all, this publishing business is about sharing the love of God with my readers, not assuaging my ego. How can I share the love of God with readers if I refuse to publish when the opportunity presents itself? So I publish now through small presses, instead of hiding my light under a bushel, so to speak.
I pour my soul into each story I spin, hoping my words, through the power of God’s regenerating Holy Spirit, affect good in the hearts of those who read my work.
If God led you to my Web site, trust that you arrived for a purpose. God loves you and wants to do a marvelous work in your life. Why not let him make pearls from the gritty parts of your life?
God slowly, ever so slowly, makes pearls from the gritty parts of my life!
God bless you, dear readers.

And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
~Romans 8:28
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
~Colossians 3:17
How to accept Jesus Christ as your savior
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
~John 3:16
9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
~Romans 10:9-10
Note: The oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico affected my family as it did so many. My heart weeps for my family and all those devastated by this disaster. Many prayers go up on their behalf.
